The wonderful men and women of South East Palliative Care provide care, compassion, physical and emotional support to people nearing the end of their lives.
The Cardinia Foundation provides regular financial gifts to aid the challenging but incredibly important work of this free, non-profit service.
Nobody sets out wanting to know about palliative care services, but the facts are that most of us will need this service one day either for ourselves or a loved one.
South East Palliative Care doesn’t just focus on the person with the illness – it provides emotional and practical bereavement support to the patients’ loved ones at the time of their loss.
The service is free of charge to lients,
and although it receives funding from
state and federal governments,
financial and volunteer assistance is
always needed.
The service cares for a catchment of 400,000 residents of Cardinia, Casey and Greater Dandenong, making at lest 20,000 client contacts each year.
With an aging Australian population demand is like to increase substantially in coming years.
While medical care may be the primary domain of South Eastern Palliative Care, the service also depends heavily on its volunteer workforce. South East Palliative Care is one of many vital local initiatives The Cardinia Foundation supports.
