The Cardinia Foundation - make a real difference to local people

What does $10,000 mean to you?

It might pay for a couple of weeks holiday, or half a new car.
Or it could provide a disadvantaged child with a program of
opportunity deisgned to turn his or her young life around.

That’s what it costs to put one child through Windermere’s intensive Kids Becoming Champions early intervention program, but the rewards can be enormous.

The program operates from Pakenham Consolidated and Pakenham Hills schools and employs a full time project worker. Over 40 children are involved in the program.

Usually they are referred through schools and other service providers, as school is a good place to identify issues nd potential risks in the child’s development, behaviour and
family environment.

Kids Becoming Champions is there to catch children that may fall through the cracks for any number of reasons.

Windermere works with the family as a whole where possible to provide a suite of services ranging from hearing, dental, optical health services to education, nutrition and therapeutic counseling.

Already the program is yielding success stories from teachers who have seen the difference this intensive program can make.

So what’s different about Kids
Becoming Champions?
